Supporting women to become self sufficient
The Gambia located in West Africa is ranked as one of the poorest countries in the world women in the Gambia face significant livelihood challenges including a lack of education limited job opportunities and unequal access to resources and women in the Gambia are forced to rely on subsistence farming which is often insufficient to provide for their families without access to financial resources these women struggle to secure necessities such as food water and housing

According to UNICEF, 62% of the rural population in the Gambia lacks access to improved drinking water sources. This has led to the spread of waterborne diseases such as diarrhoea cholera and typhoid fever women and children are often forced to walk long distances to fetch water from contaminated sources which put their health and safety at risk.
Installing water pumps in rural Gambia would greatly improve the lives of its people not only would it provide access to clean drinking water but it would also save time and energy for women and children who often spend hours collecting water each day This would allow them to focus on education and other income-generating activities.
